A modern park along the Wolbórka river in the city centre, opened in 2019, with paths on both banks, sports zones and a square for open-air events.
Nowe Bulwary Municipal Park extends along both banks of the Wolbórka river in the centre of Tomaszów Mazowiecki, near Tomaszów Gallery. Over an area of approximately 7.5 hectares, sports facilities, playgrounds, walking paths and space for cultural events have been combined to create one of the larger green areas in the city.
The park was built from spring 2018 to April 2019 according to architectural documentation updated by the APA Wach Architekci office under the direction of Adam Włodzimierz Wach. The investment was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund in the amount of 11,584,901.17 zloty, which made it possible to transform the former, neglected embankments along the Wolbórka into an organised recreational area.
Through the park area, on both sides of the Wolbórka, run pedestrian and cycling paths and viewing platforms running along the banks. The two banks are connected by two pedestrian-cycling bridges, making it possible to walk in a loop on both sides of the river. The park also features landscape beaches, gently shaped grassy slopes down to the water, which serve as a place of rest rather than a bathing area.
Nowe Bulwary Municipal Park combines the function of a green area with sports facilities. There is a mini basketball court, table tennis tables, an outdoor gym and a skate park also adapted as a dirt park for extreme bikes. The central point is the Central Square, used for outdoor art exhibitions and open-air events.
In arranging the park, over 300 new trees were planted, 41,000 shrubs and over 30,000 flowers and other plants. For the park's wild residents, over 80 nest boxes for birds and bats were installed. In the evening, the area is lit by an energy-efficient lamp system, supplemented by illuminated fountains. The entire park was designed as fully accessible for people with disabilities, without architectural barriers on the main routes.
