A roughly 12-hectare angling reservoir with a beach on its southern shore and a protected spawning zone where the river flows in, run by an angling association.
The Pond on the Pilica River is a water reservoir used for fishing and water recreation in the area of Smardzewice and Tomaszów Mazowiecki, managed by the Water Sports and Fishing Association on the Pilica (SSWiW w Pilicy).
The reservoir covers an area of approximately 12 hectares with a maximum depth of 3 metres. The bottom is mostly silty with sandy areas. On the southern bank there is a recreational area with a beach.
According to the managing association, the reservoir contains carp, roach, bream, tench, crucian carp, chub, ide, perch, pike, catfish, zander, sturgeon and rainbow trout, amongst others. At the point where the river flows into the reservoir, a no-fishing zone applies, designated as a fish spawning area.
The reservoir is managed by the Water Sports and Fishing Association on the Pilica, which is responsible for restocking and organising fishing on the water body. The association's contact address is 17 Stycznia Street, Rybaczówka, in Pilica.
The recorded postcode 97-200 actually corresponds to Tomaszów Mazowiecki rather than Smardzewice (postcode 97-213). The manager, SSWiW, has a contact office in Pilica, which further complicates establishing definitively which town the reservoir is in. Physically the water body is located on the Pilica River in the vicinity of Smardzewice and Tomaszów Mazowiecki; the exact town is best confirmed on site or directly with the manager.
