A historic municipal park listed as a monument, notable for its botanical garden, a rarity among green spaces in the region.
Park im. Księcia Józefa Poniatowskiego is a historic green area in Piotrków Trybunalski, listed in the register of monuments. Its distinctive feature is a botanical garden, which sets this place apart from an ordinary municipal park.
The park is named after Józef Poniatowski, a prince and general who lived from 1763 to 1813, one of the most famous figures of the Napoleonic era in Poland. It was to him that avenues and squares in many Polish cities were dedicated, and the Piotrków park is one such memorial.
The park area is listed in the register of monuments, which means that its green layout and spatial composition are subject to conservation protection. Such registration typically concerns the historical arrangement of avenues, old trees and compositional layout, rather than individual elements of small architecture.
Within the park's boundaries is a botanical garden, a rarity among green spaces in the region. Before your visit, it is worth checking the current plant collection and condition of the garden with the site manager.
