Pumptrack

Bitwy nad Bzurą 41, Łęczyca
About Pumptrack

This 160-metre track of banks and bends by the town's reservoirs lets you ride a bike, scooter or rollerblades without pedalling, just by shifting your weight.

The pumptrack in Łęczyca is a 160-metre circuit made up of berms and curves, which opened on 3 June 2020. It was built above the municipal reservoirs, on ulica Bitwy nad Bzurą, and serves cyclists, scooter users, skateboarders and roller skaters.

How the track is built

The circuit consists of alternately arranged berms and curves, which are negotiated without pedalling, using only body movement and weight transfer between berms. The entire loop measures 160 metres, allowing for several laps without stopping. The track was designed and built by Velo Projekt on commission from the city of Łęczyca, with the investment overseen by mayor Paweł Kulesze.

Riding rules

One-way traffic is mandatory on the track, and every participant must wear a protective helmet and use equipment with functioning brakes – this applies to bicycles, scooters, skateboards and roller skates alike, as the pumptrack is designed for all these types of equipment. The track is used by children, young people and adults: it allows you to practise balance and technique for navigating uneven terrain, so it works for both beginners and more experienced users.

Surroundings

The facility is located in the recreational part of the city, above the reservoirs, near the Heroes of the Battle of Bzura Monument, from which the access road takes its name. Nearby, on an island in the reservoir, there is also a wooden gazebo, so a visit to the track can easily be combined with a walk by the water.
