Remains of a medieval defensive castle on a square in the centre of Bolesławiec, burned down during the Thirty Years' War.
On Plac Zamkowy in Bolesławiec there remain the remains of a medieval defensive castle. The fortress burned down during the Thirty Years' War, and about ten years later an evangelical church was built on its grounds. The city took its name from Duke Bolesław I the Tall, around 1190.
The site today forms part of the city centre, in the vicinity of the evangelical church built on the former castle grounds, and does not have the character of a designated tour route with information boards.
The place lies in the very centre of Bolesławiec, surrounded by compact urban development, so visitors encounter it rather during a walk through the city than as a separate excursion destination.
