The skatepark by the Ochnia river in Kutno, next to a pumptrack, has ramps, a half-pipe, a spine and a bank ramp - an expanded version of a participatory-budget project.
Skatepark at Aleia ZHP in Kutno is located on recreational grounds above the Ochnia river, next to a pumptrack, as part of the city investment "Zielona Oś Miasta" (Green Axis of the City). The facility has ramps, a half-pipe, spine and bank ramps, so it is used by skateboarders, scooter riders and BMX cyclists.
The skatepark began as a project submitted to the Kutno Citizen Budget 2015, under number 13. The original proposal included a launch ramp, spine, half-pipe ramp, a connection between the half-pipe and bank ramp, and lighting, all within the citizen budget limit of approximately 100,000 zloty.
The municipal skatepark funded by the citizen budget was ultimately deemed too modest. In March 2020, Kutno mayor Zbigniew Burzyński announced the construction of a full-scale facility comprising around ten elements, at an estimated cost of 700,000 to one million zloty. The location was identified by the Ochnia river, which is where the skatepark operates today.
In parallel with skatepark plans, the city considered building a pumptrack, a facility two to three times larger in area, fitting into the "Zielona Oś Miasta" concept. Ultimately, Kutno realised both facilities next to one another, so the area above the Ochnia serves both skateboarders and pumptrack cyclists. Nearby is also a dog run at Aleia ZHP.
On 4 May 2024, the first edition of the Pumptrack Skatepark Festival took place at the facility, with competitions for skateboarders, scooter riders and BMX cyclists. The event confirms that the skatepark is active and has its own sporting life.
The facility is managed by Kutno City Hall, specifically the Department of Culture, Promotion and City Development, so that is where it is easiest to enquire about its current technical condition, maintenance and any repairs.
