Sledge Run on Rudzka Góra

The sledge run on Rudzka Góra is an artificial slope for sledging, operating at the Bacówka u Józka restaurant in Łódź. It measures 580 metres and uses only gravity, with no ski lift or mechanical drive. It lies within the recreational complex of Rudzka Góra, known to Łódź residents primarily as a place for walks and outdoor activity.

What the run looks like

The slope is divided into an uphill section of 160 metres, which a sledger covers in around 90 seconds, and the actual descent lasting a maximum of 80 seconds. During the ride you can reach speeds of around 35 kilometres per hour. The construction is artificial, designed for conditions typical of Łódź, where snow is sparse, so the run does not depend on natural snow cover.

Who can ride

The run is used by both adults and children, but the youngest under 8 years of age may ride only under the direct supervision of a guardian. This is the only hard restriction imposed by the facility operator.

When the run is open

Bacówka u Józka keeps the run open all year round, subject to weather conditions. Rides are suspended during rainfall and when the surface is covered with ice, as riding would be dangerous in such conditions. Exact opening hours on particular days vary depending on the season, so it is worth checking before you visit.

Who uses the run

The run is used by individual visitors and families with children as well as organised groups. The Bacówka u Józka restaurant also operates a programme for members of the Polish Teachers' Union at the Łódź University of Technology, which organises trips there for its employees. The facility is listed in online databases of tourist attractions in the Łódź region as one of the few artificial sledge runs operating all year round, regardless of season.
