Skwer Dworca Kolejowego Zgierz

The square in front of Zgierz railway station is a small public space adjacent to PKP Zgierz station, built in 1902 on the Warsaw–Kalisz railway line. It serves as the forecourt of the station: from here, passengers head towards the city centre, and it experiences daily foot traffic connected with the station.

Station from 1902

The station building was erected during the Warsaw–Kalisz railway era and retains its original spatial layout to this day: the station itself, the former goods warehouse, residential buildings, a water tower and a pumping station. In 2011 it underwent comprehensive renovation and modernisation as part of the railway's preparations for Euro 2012.

Regional station

Zgierz now has the status of a regional station and according to 2024 data handles an average of around 2700 passengers daily. The station building itself is managed by PKP PLK S.A., while the public space in front of it, the square, falls under the jurisdiction of Zgierz city.

Nearby

In Zgierz city centre, at a reasonable distance from the station, you will find Tadeusz Kościuszko City Park and Miasto Tkaczy Cultural Park with the historic weaver buildings of old Zgierz.
