About Zielone Płuca Arturówek

Zielone Płuca Arturówek is a recreational complex with pools and bathing facilities in the Arturówek district. An ideal location for families and swimming enthusiasts, offering various pools suited to different needs and abilities.

Arturówek is a recreational centre run by Miejski Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji (MOSiR) [City Sports and Recreation Centre] in Łagiewniki Forest, located at ul. Skrzydlatej 75 in Łódź. The facility offers a supervised beach with lifeguards, a bathing pool, a water sports marina, tennis courts, a 90-pitch campsite and running and cycling routes across the largest green area within city boundaries in all of Europe.

History of Arturówek settlement

Arturówek is a historic settlement established after 1864 in Łagiewniki Forest. August Zawisza, the owner of the Łagiewniki estate, created a farmstead there, which gradually developed into a recreational centre. Łagiewniki Forest, in which the settlement lies, is a natural forest within a metropolitan area and represents the largest green space within city boundaries in all of Europe.

Infrastructure and recreational facilities

The centre offers extensive infrastructure for water-based activities and time spent in nature. A supervised beach with lifeguards enables safe bathing, a pool serves for swimming, and the water sports marina allows for the hire of water sports equipment. Of historical interest is also Hotel Prząśniczka, a holiday and leisure complex opened for use in 1965, which operated as a recreational centre for employees.

Łagiewniki Forest and its significance

Arturówek is situated in the heart of Łagiewniki Forest, which is an uncommon natural phenomenon. It is a natural forest that has been maintained within the boundaries of a large metropolis, which is significant for local ecology. Large forested areas provide an ideal base for cycling and running routes, which are popular with sportspeople and outdoor activity enthusiasts.

Getting there and accessibility

The centre is well connected by public transport. Trams on lines 1, 5 and 15 serve Arturówek, stopping at Łagiewniki. Parking is available within the complex. Given its considerable distance from the city centre, the centre provides an ideal retreat for residents of Łódź seeking recreation in nature.
