In a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a virus that has decimated humanity, the survivors are terrorized by roaming bands of scavengers called the Reapers. Hig, a pilot who survived the epidemic that took everyone close to him, including his wife, lives on an abandoned airfield with his dog, his only neighbor an armed former Marine. From time to time he climbs into his 1956 Cessna to pretend, if only for a moment, that everything is as it was before. But when a mysterious transmission suddenly reaches him over the radio, the voice he hears awakens in him hope that a better life might exist somewhere out there. Hig risks everything and sets out in search of potential shelter in Grand Junction.
