About this event
A hero, a Polish man, is interned in 1940 with a group of British and French citizens in a small Swiss town. The camp is housed in a former school. The hero's attention is drawn to a cheerful blonde girl from Kraków, Janka Birmin, but he befriends the beautiful French woman, Suzanne. The young woman is interested in Poland, and together they read poetry by Polish poets. However, the hero becomes disenchanted with Suzanne and begins to admire the young and beautiful Renee Bleist, who arrives with a new group of internees. The unbearable Krupski brothers, twin siblings, find the hero's diary and read aloud his thoughts about Suzanne.
