March Almonds

Early March 1968. Residents of small Lublimia await a friendship train from Czechoslovakia at the station, including students from class XIc and teachers. The train doesn't stop. Tomek, the school's writer and photographer, is ordered by the headmistress to write about the warm reception of Czech friends in the school newspaper, but refuses. His friend Marcyś throws a party for the whole class. Later, the boys read an article by someone named Wilk describing orgies of banana-loving youth at Marcyś's house, corrupting Polish youth. Radio Free Europe reports that in Warsaw ORMO beats students over 'Forefathers' Eve.' The next morning the whole school marches to the marketplace to participate in a 'spontaneous' protest of the working class against troublemakers.
