Carlo and Elisa live in Rome in what appears to be a successful relationship. He is a philosophy professor and writer struggling with creative crisis. She is a talented and brilliant journalist whose columns appear in international lifestyle magazines. After two decades together, their relationship falls into routine and distance. To rekindle their connection, they decide to travel to Morocco with longtime friends Anna and Paolo, and their thirteen-year-old daughter Vittoria—an intelligent, inquisitive, and eccentric teenager. It turns out the couple is also experiencing a serious crisis, which deeply affects their daughter. Vittoria, unable to get along with her parents, finds support in Carlo, forming a close bond with him.
