A fenced dog park by the Zadębie reservoir, funded through the participatory budget, with an obstacle course for play and basic training.
On the south-eastern shore of Zalew Zadębie [Zadębie Reservoir] in Skierniewice, there is a fenced dog run called "Psi park. Psie szczęście" (Dog park. Dog happiness). This is a project funded through the city's participatory budget, equipped with facilities for dog play and training, as well as rest areas for owners.
The "Psi park. Psie szczęście" project was submitted to the 2021 participatory budget edition, with implementation costs set at 100,000 zloty. In July 2022, Arkadiusz Kopczewski, spokesperson for Skierniewice City Hall, confirmed that construction would begin in the coming days. Final finishing works were still underway in April 2023, meaning the facility took longer to build than originally planned.
The dog run covers approximately 600 square metres. It includes tunnels, hoops, a swing, jump poles, a "broken bridge", a slalom course and a ramp, providing a complete set of equipment for dog play and basic training. The area is supplemented with a shelter, benches and waste bins for owners waiting for their pets to run about.
The run is located at the last exit to the reservoir from ulica Strobowska [Strobowska Street], within Zalew Zadębie, one of Skierniewice's more popular recreational spots. It is a good place to combine a dog walk with a longer trip to the water, for example via the cycle path around the reservoir. On the same ulica Strobowska, the Rodzinne Ogrody Działkowe im. Feliksa Kotowskiego [community allotment gardens] also operate.
