Helios Cinema Łódź Sukcesja

Helios Cinema Łódź Sukcesja is a multiplex in the Sukcesja Shopping and Entertainment Centre, nine screens with nearly 2,000 seats, opened on 25 September 2015 as the first Helios multiplex in Łódź, the city where the company is headquartered.

From the Bałtyk cinema to a multiplex chain

The Helios chain grew out of the worker cooperative of the Bałtyk cinema in Łódź, the most popular cinema in the city before the multiplex era.

The opening of Sukcesja was therefore a return to Helios's home city, but on a completely different scale, as the 35th multiplex of the chain in Poland and the first in Łódź.

Nine screens, including two in Dream standard

The cinema has nine screens with a combined capacity of nearly 2,000 viewers.

Two of them operate under the Helios Dream concept, with leather seats with adjustable backrests, Dolby Atmos sound and 4K image. The remaining screens have Dolby 7.1 sound and premium-class screens, so the difference between screens concerns mainly seat comfort and sound quality. When choosing a screening on the cinema's website, it is worth noting which screen the given showing takes place in, if you are specifically interested in the Dream version.

Programme broader than current releases

Beyond the standard programme, the cinema runs thematic cycles: Women's Cinema, Night Film Marathons, Connoisseur's Cinema and Helios for Children.

This arrangement allows it to reach different groups of viewers, from families with small children to viewers looking for more ambitious cinema than current box office hits. Helios Café operates on site, serving coffee in several varieties, as well as a cinema bar with popcorn and drinks.

Awards for the building

Sukcesja Cinema won second place in the New Building of the Year category at the gala of the International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA) and the CEE Retail Award 2016 in the entertainment and leisure category.

Both awards concerned the building itself, not the programme, confirming that the building at opening stood out for the quality of its construction compared to other multiplexes of that period.
