Krusche Palace

Krusche Palace stands on ul. św. Jana in Pabianice, several hundred metres from the Palace of the Ender family. The neoclassical residence was built at the end of the 19th century for Benjamin Krusche, a partner in the manufacturing company that shaped the city's industrial character for decades. Today the building houses the Registry Office in Pabianice.

Who the palace was built for

The first owner of the building was Benjamin Krusche, and at the beginning of the 20th century the entire Krusche family lived in the palace. The family name is also borne by the company Krusche and Ender, founded in 1872 and connected with the nearby Krusche-Ender Factory complex.

Changes after the war

After World War II the building was taken over by the state and converted into flats. In the 1960s a third, stylistically incoherent storey was added, and the fence and shrubs in front of the elevation were removed, which altered the original appearance of the property.

Current function

Currently the palace houses the Registry Office, where wedding ceremonies and anniversaries of long marriages are held. The building is maintained in good condition, and its form with characteristic elevation remains one of the landmarks of this part of the city.

Neighbourhood

The palace stands near the Church of the Most Holy Mary of the Rosary and the Weaver's House on Zamkowa Street. This part of Pabianice contains several 19th-century buildings associated with manufacturing families, alongside former workers' houses and churches.
