The Museum of Armed Action in Lipce Reymontowskie holds a collection of artefacts related to Poland's military history. Located in Lipce Reymontowskie, it offers insight into the country's armed past.
The Museum of Armed Action in Lipce Reymontowskie is a small military facility on ul. Reymonta, housing relics from battles fought on Skierniewicka land from the January Uprising to the Second World War. Next to the building stands an open-air exhibition of heavy military equipment.
The facility opened in January 1988, coinciding with celebrations marking the 650th anniversary of the founding of Lipce Reymontowskie. The exhibition occupies three rooms, bringing together exhibits from the January Uprising, the interwar period, the Second World War and the times of the Polish People's Army.
The display cases contain weapons, uniforms, military equipment, medals and decorations, as well as photographs and documents. Part of the exhibition documents the activities of units from the 26th Skierniewicka Infantry Division and cavalry brigades stationed in the area. A separate section is devoted to the September 1939 defence and the Battle of the Bzura, one of the largest battles of the September campaign, which took place in this region.
Next to the museum building stands an exhibition of heavy equipment in the open air. It includes T-34/85 and T-55 tanks, Schneider field guns and a Bofors anti-tank gun. This is equipment that served in the Polish army after the Second World War and today functions as a monument to military technology.
The museum has no fixed opening hours; visits take place by prior arrangement by telephone with the facility's curator. According to data from 2000, the museum was visited by around 3000 people annually, which for a small rural exhibition is a significant number.
Lipce Reymontowskie is known chiefly for its connections with Władysław Reymont, recalled by a local museum dedicated to the writer. It is worth combining both visits, as the village itself can be explored in a few hours.
