About Muzeum Historii Miasta

Muzeum Historii Miasta is a place where you can discover Łódź's past from medieval origins to modern times. The exhibitions show how the architecture, economy, and daily life of residents changed.

The museum is located on ulica Złotnickiego in the heart of the city. You will travel through successive epochs of Łódź's history — from the time when wooden settlements stood on this terrain, through the flourishing period of the textile industry, to the image of a modern metropolis. The main exhibition includes archival objects, documents, photographs, and artifacts that tell the stories of real people who lived in Łódź in different periods. Notable are reconstructions of historical interiors, maps showing changes in the city's borders, and collections of everyday objects from past centuries. This place is especially recommended if you want to understand how life actually looked for Łódź residents — not only in the palaces of factory owners, but also in ordinary homes, craft workshops, and city alleys.
