Poland's first interactive museum devoted to coal and electricity on plac Narutowicza, currently closed while the building is modernised.
The PGE Power Giants Exhibition is an interactive museum dedicated to coal and electrical energy, located at Plac Narutowicza in Bełchatów. As of the publication date of this description, the facility is not accepting visitors due to ongoing building modernisation.
The exhibition is housed in the building of Miejskiego Centrum Kultury, and its website announces a technical break due to work on the building. On 30 April 2026, the city of Bełchatów signed an agreement with the Łódź Voivodeship for co-financing the modernisation of the MCK PGE Power Giants building and the redesign of the exhibition. The total project value is 3,366,557.19 złoty, with co-financing of 2,861,573.61 złoty. No completion date or reopening date for visitors has yet been announced, so you should check the facility's website for current status before planning your visit.
The facility is described as Poland's first museum dedicated to the subject of coal and electrical energy. The offer is aimed at preschoolers, pupils, young people and families with children and allows visitors to independently conduct experiments related to physics and electrical phenomena. In 2015, the exhibition received the certificate for Best Tourist Product of the Year, awarded by the Polish Tourist Organisation.
The work includes construction and installation work on the building and the purchase of modern ICT equipment and software for the exhibition. The project also includes adapting the building for accessibility for people with disabilities. The scope and scale of the investment suggest that after completion the way the exhibition itself is arranged will also change, not just the technical condition of the building.
