Park Pogoń Ekolog

The name Park Pogoń Ekolog actually conceals the headquarters of the sports club KS Pogoń-Ekolog Zduńska Wola on ulica Łaska 90, with a football stadium and athletics section. Next to the stadium operates a small pocket park with sports courts and an open-air gym, but it is this park, not the club itself, that corresponds to the park's name.

Sports club, not recreational park

At ulica Łaska 90 operates a sports club, not a recreational area in the sense of a municipal park. KS Pogoń-Ekolog Zduńska Wola is a football team with its own stadium and athletics section. The park-like name results from a misunderstanding: next to the club's stadium there does indeed lie a small pocket park, but it is a separate, considerably more modest area than the entry name alone suggests.

From Włókniarza and Stal to Pogoń

The club was founded in 1945 from the merger of two Zduńska Wola clubs, Włókniarza Zduńska Wola and Stal Zduńska Wola, and took the name Pogoń. In the following decades it played in the third league thirteen times, among others in 1966, 1977–1980, 1983–1984, 1989, 1995–1998 and 2004.

Merger with Ekolog and name change

In 2005 the financially struggling Pogoń merged with the club Ekolog Wojsławice, creating Pogoń-Ekolog Zduńska Wola. In 2012 the club adopted the formal name Miejsko-Gminny Uczniowski Klub Sportowy Pogoń Zduńska Wola. The club colours are red and black.

Stadium on ulica Łaska

The club's stadium has a natural grass playing surface, a covered main stand and a second, smaller stand, with total seating capacity of approximately 966 seats, plus standing places. This is where the club's football matches and athletics events take place.

Pocket park next to the stadium

Directly adjacent to the club's grounds, at the same ulica Łaska 90, is a small pocket park with sports courts and an open-air gym. This is the park that gives the site its name, though in scale and character it differs from large municipal parks, such as the park im. Stefana Złotnickiego located in central Zduńska Wola.
