Rawa Mazowiecka Narrow-gauge Railway Station

The narrow-gauge railway station in Rawa Mazowiecka is a heritage station building on ul. Kolejowa, built in 1922 as part of the Rogów – Rawa – Biała line. It is one of the stops served by a tourist train that runs seasonally on a 1000 mm gauge track.

History of the station

The station was built in 1922, but not immediately in its present location. Between 1915 and 1922 the "Rawa" stop was situated approximately one kilometre further on, towards Biała Rawska, before the bridge over the Rawka river. It was moved to its current site only later. The cast-iron bridge over the Rawka was built in 1928 to replace an earlier wooden structure. The station building and its associated railway infrastructure are protected as heritage monuments.

The Rogów – Rawa – Biała line

The narrow-gauge railway connecting Rogów with Rawa Mazowiecka and Biała Rawska is part of the network of historic narrow-gauge railways in the Łódź region. The line is maintained in a condition permitting technical passage along its entire length, although passenger services have been limited to a shorter section for several years. The section between Jeżów and Rawa Mazowiecka is temporarily closed to traffic due to poor track condition, and services on the Rawa – Biała route were suspended after the 2024 season.

Tourist season

Trains run exclusively seasonally, on the Rogów – Jeżów section which is 8 kilometres long. In 2026 the season runs from 1 May to 27 September. Sunday is the primary operating day, supplemented by selected special days: the extended May bank holiday weekend, early June and 15 August, and in May and June additionally so-called cheap Tuesdays. Departures from Rogów towards Jeżów occur at 10:40, 12:20, 14:00 and 15:40, and returns from Jeżów to Rogów at 11:36, 13:16, 14:56 and 16:36. The same timetables and routes apply to the adjacent section, as Rawa Mazowiecka station remains outside the currently operated part of the line.

The history of the region, including the history of local railways, is presented at the Muzeum Ziemi Rawskiej [Rawa Land Museum]. In the city centre, not far from the station, is the market square in Rawa Mazowiecka.
