An earthen mound on a meadow between the former villages of Rszew and Niesięcin, remains of a medieval defensive settlement known locally as Siwaberek - today a place for walks and, in winter, sledging.
Grodzisko stożkowate is an earthen mound that is a remnant of a medieval defensive settlement, located in a meadow between the former villages of Rszew and Niesięcin, within the boundaries of present-day Konstantynów Łódzki. In the municipal register of monuments it is listed as a conical stronghold above the Jasieniec river, and among residents it is known by the colloquial name Siwaberek, also spelled Siwy Berek.
The mound was constructed as part of a defensive settlement, but researchers do not agree on when it was built. Available studies place estimates in the period from the 13th to 16th century, and some suggest even the 17th century.
Grodzisko is listed in the municipal register of monuments of the city of Konstantynów Łódzki, alongside the Church of St Joseph the Worker and a water mill, and the area remains under the supervision of a heritage conservator. The number of the entry in the register of immovable monuments is not publicly available.
Beyond its historical value, the mound serves today as a place of rest for residents. In summer, you can walk across the meadow and around the rise; in winter, the slope is sometimes used for sledding. The city has announced further development of the area: walking and cycling paths, car parking spaces, lighting, new tree plantings, a sensory path, additional benches, insect boxes, bird boxes and feeders, and a dog run.
