It is a small neighbourhood cinema run by the cultural centre, with a programme consisting of current film releases.

Part of the Cultural Centre since 1992

The cinema has operated as part of Wieruszowski Dom Kultury since 1992, with the first screening in this format taking place on 5 January that year. The previous history of the building at this address is not fully documented, but for three decades Słońce has remained the only permanent cinema in Wieruszów and the surrounding area.

Shared building with the Fire Brigade

The building at plac Rynek 8/9 houses both a cinema hall and the station for Ochotnicza Straż Pożarna Wieruszów [Wieruszów Voluntary Fire Brigade], a solution typical of smaller towns where cultural institutions and services share common infrastructure. This location places the cinema in the very centre of the city, right by the main square.

Programme and ticket prices

The programme is refreshed every Wednesday, usually in the afternoon, in line with the nationwide film release cycle. Ticket prices range from 15 to 18 złotych regardless of the day of the week, making Słońce one of the cheaper cinema options in the region. The box office opens an hour before the first screening of the day, so there is no need to arrive much earlier than the film itself.

The only cinema in town

Wieruszów, a city of several thousand residents, has no other permanent cinema besides Słońce, so the venue serves as the main place of film entertainment for the entire municipality and surrounding settlements. Running the cinema through a cultural centre rather than a chain company results in a simpler, more intimate character to a visit: one hall, one screening at a time, without large multiplex corridors and multiple screens at once.
