The Zgierz ice rink is a place for ice skating enthusiasts. Regardless of ability, visitors can spend active time on the ice alone or with family and friends.
Zgierz Ice Rink is a covered ice sheet in a sports hall on ulica Wschodnia [Eastern Street], run by the municipal MOSiR [Municipal Centre for Sport and Recreation]. The facility combines recreational skating with sports training and operates year-round, regardless of outdoor weather.
The building was constructed between 1974 and 1981 and served solely as an ice rink until 1991. In autumn 2023, following modernisation, a new multifunctional section of the facility opened, with the official opening taking place on 13-15 October 2023.
The ice rink is 40 metres long and 20 metres wide, covered and lit, so it can be used in the evening as well. Besides recreational skating, the hall hosts figure skating training and ice hockey matches.
The ice rink welcomes both recreational skaters and athletes preparing for figure skating competitions or ice hockey matches. The covered roof and artificial ice sheet mean that the recreational skating schedule is often divided between club training sessions, so it is worth checking the current timetable before your visit.
The facility is open Monday to Saturday from 7:00 to 23:00, and on Sunday from 7:00 to 22:00. The timetable may change during competitions and training periods, so it is worth checking before your visit.
MOSiR Zgierz offers discounts for pupils, students up to 26 years of age, pensioners, people with disabilities and their carers, and holders of the Zgierz Family Card.
The ice rink is located in the centre of Zgierz, close to Muzeum Miasta Zgierza [Zgierz City Museum].
It is also near the historic Łaźnia Miejska [Municipal Bathhouse], one of the city's recognisable buildings.
It is also worth visiting the square at the railway station, one of Zgierz's renovated public spaces.
