A tenement at Piotrkowska 135 from 1886, built by the Eisert family, descendants of weavers who arrived from Saxony in 1827 and ran their own corduroy and wool weaving mill here.
The tenement house at Piotrkowska 135 stands in the strict centre of Łódź, right next to Reymonta's Suitcase. It was formerly the property of the manufacturing family Eiserts, who owned it for over seventy years.
The plot at the present number 135 was taken over in 1834 by Jan Beer under a declaratory protocol, who erected a wooden front house here. In January 1862 the property passed into the hands of husband and wife Augusta and Wilhelm Kern, and in September 1871 it was purchased by husband and wife Paulina (née Guse) and Karol Eisert. The two-storey residence visible today from the pavement was built only in 1886. Earlier, the family lived in the house of Karol's father on the former Główna Street.
The Eisert family came to Łódź around 1827 from the locality of Wehrsdorf near Bautzen in Saxony. Karol Eisert was a descendant of this family of weavers and after taking over the property on Piotrkowska, he opened his own weaving mill for curtains and woollen products.
Apart from Eisert's weaving mill, other businesses operated on the property: the wool and worsted yarn agency of Ernst Feder, the weaving pattern and weaving paper factory of A. Siemierkowski, and the cardboard box factory of M. Frenkel. In 1901 a project was drawn up for the reconstruction of the ground floor of a brick, three-storey office building standing at the back of the property.
The Eiserts managed the property continuously until the end of the Second World War. Karol Eisert rests in the Old Cemetery in Łódź.
