A tenement on the corner with Moniuszki street, the former Meyer's Passage laid out in the 19th century by the entrepreneur Ludwik Meyer.
The tenement building at Piotrkowska 74 stands on the corner with Moniuszki Street, formerly Meyer's Passage. This area in the second half of the 19th century belonged to entrepreneur Ludwik Meyer, owner of neighbouring properties numbered 72 and 76, who laid out a private alley named after him, with eclectic tenement buildings from 1886, today called Moniuszki Street.
The building's name is sometimes associated with Ludwik Geyer, a Łódź manufacturer known for the Biała Fabryka [White Factory], however his factories and residences were located at Piotrkowska 282–315, not at number 74. The history of ownership of the plot at number 74 does not mention the name Geyer, but consistently points to Ludwik Meyer, who purchased the land of this and neighbouring properties in the late 1870s.
