In a former spinning mill of the Poznański factory on the Manufaktura site, ms2 displays a permanent collection of twentieth and twenty-first century art across three thousand square metres.
ms2 is the second building of the Museum of Art in Łódź, housed in a former spinning mill of Izrael Poznański's factory at Ogrodowa 19, within the Manufaktura market area. It is a separate building from the palace headquarters ms1 at Więckowskiego 36: both buildings belong to the same institution, the Museum of Art in Łódź, but each has its own permanent collection and building history.
ms2 opened in autumn 2008 in a former spinning mill within the Izrael Poznański factory complex, now occupied by the Manufaktura shopping and cultural centre Manufaktura. The project to adapt the building into a museum was funded by the European Union and Polish public institutions.
ms2's exhibition space comprises approximately 3,000 square metres for the permanent collection and an additional 600 square metres for temporary exhibitions. The building has three exhibition halls, a bookshop with an art shop and a café called "Awangarda".
The permanent exhibition "Ways of Seeing. The Museum of Art in Łódź Collection" presents artworks from the 20th and 21st centuries from the museum's holdings. Alongside it, temporary exhibitions are presented; at the time of research, the exhibition "Gifts of Friendship" was on display.
The building is fully adapted for people with disabilities and has a lift connecting all levels, unlike the palace headquarters ms1, where the ground floor is not accessible by lift.
