A tenement on Piotrkowska dating from 1867, linked from the 1880s to the factory owner Rudolf Kindler, who also owned a palace in Pabianice.
The tenement house at Piotrkowska 48 was built in 1867, when the plot's then owners, Szymon Heyman and Józef Landau, constructed a brick front building there. In the early 1880s, the property passed into the hands of Rudolf Kindler, a manufacturer known primarily from Pabianice [industrial town near Łódź], where he owned a palace on ulica Zamkowa [Castle Street], today listed in the heritage register. His company, Rudolf Kindler Joint-Stock Company for Semi-Wool Products, managed the building still in the 1920s.
From 1896 to 1918, the Fischer family's bookshop operated at this address, separate from their main heritage-listed tenement house at Piotrkowska 47. The front building itself was erected on a plot which Heyman and Landau had previously purchased as their own property from the city of Łódź municipality in 1880.
