Zduny, near Łowicz, is home to one, but large, attraction: the Maurzyce Open-Air Museum (Skansen Maurzyce), also known as the Łowicz Ethnographic Park. It is a great option for a whole morning for families and lovers of traditional rural architecture.
On grounds covering 17.67 hectares stand 42 wooden buildings with straw-thatched roofs, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries - their layout recreates two historical spatial arrangements of Łowicz-region villages, including an oval village plan with a shared square in the middle. The open-air museum is a branch of the Museum in Łowicz, open only on weekends, with tickets costing a few zloty and the option of a guide in Polish or English. It is a good choice for children, who can walk freely between the cottages, unlike enclosed museum displays.
The open-air museum appears at once in the museums of the region, parks and nature and historic monuments of the Łódź region categories, and as a family option it also fits among attractions for children. The nearest larger city is Łowicz, about 7 kilometers away.
